Queens residents love heading to the quiet park to chat with neighbors, light up a BBQ and enjoy a picnic with friends, or take their dog for a walk to get some energy out. The park has restrooms, tennis courts, and bocce courts, so feel free to make a day of your time at Cunningham.
2. Astoria Park – 19 19th St, Astoria, NY 11105
This 60-acre park is a great place to enjoy river views, get a great walk in, and even swim in the summer. Be sure to bring the little ones to enjoy the playground area, and keep an eye on the local events to learn when carnivals will be at the park. Ready to take in the sights of the big city? Hit a local deli for a picnic lunch and enjoy the skyscrapers across the river.
3. Forest Park – Myrtle Avenue, Union Tpke, Park Ln S, Queens, NY 11421
The tenth-largest park in NYC, you’ll have no trouble finding a quiet place to walk in Forest Park. Equestrians love bringing horses to enjoy the park trails. Dogs are also welcome at the park (as long as they remain on a leash). If you’re a biker, feel free to get crazy on and off the trails – no rules stop you from off-roading if the mood strikes.
4. Baisley Pond Park – Baisley Blvd, Jamaica, NY 11434
With sports fields and plenty of trails for you to stroll, the whole family will love spending an afternoon at Baisley Pond Park. The pond is more of a lake, spanning 30 acres. Have some work to do? No worries. Baisley Park is equipped with free wi-fi, making it simple for you to do what you need to do while your family enjoys the handball courts, running track, and playground. If you have little ones, be sure to have them check out the sculpture of the American mastodon in the children’s area.
5. Flushing Meadows Corona Park — Avery Avenue and 131 Street, Flushing, Queens, NY 11355.
Escape from the city at this hidden treat in Queens. One of the largest parks in Queens, Flushing Meadows Corona Park, has a little something for everyone. On your stroll, stop into the zoo, Hall of Science, the Queens Museum with the NYC Panorama, and the Queens Theater. Fans of history will also enjoy the nostalgic remains of the 1964 World’s Fair.
